NORTHBOUND I-45, TEXAS — A major accident has shut down lanes 1, 2, and 3 on northbound Interstate 45 between mile marker 85 and mile marker 86, spanning from south of FM-2854 to north of Loop 336. The incident was reported at approximately 7:04 AM, immediately restricting northbound flow to a single lane.
Emergency services and highway response crews are on scene managing the multi-lane blockage and working to secure the roadway. Transportation officials have classified the incident severity at 4 out of 5, and travel through this segment of the corridor is strongly discouraged.
No official detour is currently established, resulting in heavy backups along the northbound lanes approaching the crash zone. TxDOT currently estimates clearance operations will continue until approximately 11:00 AM.
