UPDATE: ROAD REOPENED - October 25, 2026 12:05 PM UTC All eastbound lanes on SH-99 near 4.384 miles west of FM-1314 have reopened following an earlier accident.
EASTBOUND SH-99, TEXAS — All eastbound main lanes on SH-99 are completely shut down near mile markers 746 to 744, approximately 4.4 miles west of FM-1314, following a serious traffic accident. The collision occurred around 1:37 AM, forcing a total closure of the eastbound corridor.
Emergency responders and road clearance crews are actively working at the scene. With no designated detour route in place, traffic is experiencing severe backups and motorists are urged to avoid the corridor.
Transportation officials estimate the roadway will remain closed until approximately 7:00 AM while vehicle recovery and investigation efforts continue.
Travel through this stretch of SH-99 is discouraged, and commercial dispatchers and drivers should plan alternative routes to bypass the closure. We will update this report as new information becomes available.
