EAST AND WESTBOUND SH-165, TEXAS — State Highway 165 is closed in both east and westbound directions near mile marker 442, just east of SH-165B, due to hazardous winter road conditions. Heavy delays have been reported, and mandatory detours are currently in effect for all traveling traffic.
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) crews are actively patrolling the corridor and conducting plowing operations. Officials caution that black ice covers the roadway and blowing snow has severely reduced visibility, leading authorities to strongly discourage all travel through the area.
TxDOT incident management personnel responded to the severe conditions at approximately 2:05 a.m. on November 6, 2026. The active clearance, treatment operations, and associated detour restrictions have an estimated end time of July 30, 2027, at 4:45 p.m., subject to ongoing weather and roadway stabilization.
Truck drivers, freight dispatchers, and local motorists should adjust routes accordingly, avoid the corridor, and monitor real-time conditions before dispatching equipment into the area. We will update this report as TxDOT provides further information.
