SH-45, TEXAS — Both eastbound and westbound lanes of SH-45 are experiencing severe travel disruptions and active detours from 13.125 miles east of SH-130 to 7.7 miles east of SH-130, near mile marker 580. Widespread black ice on the roadway combined with low visibility from blowing snow has created dangerous driving conditions, prompting authorities to assign a maximum severity rating to the corridor.
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) winter maintenance teams are actively patrolling the route and deploying plowing equipment to clear accumulated snow and treat ice. Signed detour routes are in place to divert traffic around the heavily impacted stretch.
TxDOT operations began on November 6, 2026, and an extended clearance window has been logged with continuous closures and active detours expected while severe winter conditions persist.
Freight dispatchers and motorists are advised that travel on this corridor is strongly discouraged due to rapid black ice formation and sudden drops in visibility. We will update this report as TxDOT confirms road reopening schedules.
