LOOP 343, TEXAS — Northbound and southbound lanes of Loop 343 are experiencing severe travel disruptions and active detours between US-290 and Interstate 35 (mile markers 564 to 568) in Travis County. Dangerous black ice and reduced visibility from blowing snow have created severe driving hazards across the entire segment.
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) winter response units are actively patrolling the route and conducting plowing operations to clear ice accumulation. Delays are significant, and designated detour routes have been implemented to divert commercial and passenger traffic around the affected corridor.
TxDOT logged the initial response at 2:05 a.m. on November 6, 2026, with current clearance and hazard management advisories extended through 4:45 p.m. on July 30, 2027.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers are urged to reroute around Loop 343, as non-essential travel is strongly discouraged due to widespread icing. We will update this report as TxDOT releases further updates.
