EASTBOUND I-20, TEXAS — A severe traffic blockage is actively impacting eastbound Interstate 20 between Mile Markers 121 and 122, approximately one mile east of Loop 338. The eastbound mainlanes and the Loop 338 entrance ramp are closed due to a major traffic switch operation.
Traffic management personnel have implemented an active detour directing all eastbound vehicles off the highway and onto the frontage road. Highway crews remain on scene to guide motorists through the modified travel pattern.
According to TxDOT, this major closure began on July 31, 2026, and continuous traffic impacts and detour routing are projected to remain in effect through July 31, 2031.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should anticipate significant delays along the frontage road corridor and plan extra transit time through the Odessa area. We will update this report as additional details or route changes are released.
