EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND I-20, TEXAS — Eastbound and westbound main lanes on Interstate 20 are facing severe travel disruptions between Mile Marker 120 and Mile Marker 126, extending from 0.32 miles west of Loop 338 to 0.78 miles west of FM-1788. The active work zone has restricted main lane traffic flow across both directions of the corridor.
Texas Department of Transportation crews have implemented active detours and posted directional signage to guide drivers through the project limits. Due to the high severity of the restriction, traffic management is urging all through-traffic to utilize signed alternate routes to bypass the congestion.
The lane restrictions officially took effect at 12:00 PM on October 7, 2026, with construction operations currently estimated to continue until 7:00 PM on December 7, 2026.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should plan for extensive delays through this stretch and adjust freight routing accordingly. We will update this report as conditions change or lanes reopen.
