MIDLAND COUNTY, TEXAS — Alternating lane closures are in effect along both eastbound and westbound Interstate 20 between Mile Marker 125 and Mile Marker 130, spanning from 1.2 miles west of FM 1788 to 1.779 miles west of SH 158. The multi-lane restrictions have created significant traffic congestion across the five-mile corridor.
Work crews are actively conducting major construction operations on the mainlanes and frontage roads, alongside the erection of new bridge structures at FM 1788 and CR 1260. Official detours are currently deployed to route traffic around shifting work zones.
The Texas Department of Transportation estimates this major corridor project will remain ongoing through April 21, 2027, at approximately 5:00 PM. Travel delays are expected to persist throughout the duration of the work.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should account for extra transit time or seek alternate routes around the FM 1788 corridor. We will update this report as lane configurations change or work wraps up.
