EAST AND WESTBOUND LOOP 111, TEXAS — Severe winter road conditions and accumulating ice have severely impacted travel along both east and westbound Loop 111 (SL 0111) in Travis County. The hazardous area spans from mile marker 0440 to mile marker 0438, between 0.37 miles south of 12th Street and 0.567 miles east of Interstate 35. Heavy ice and snow on roadways, bridges, and overpasses have created dangerous driving conditions, prompting official detours and significant travel delays.
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) response teams are on site patrolling the corridor and operating plowing and de-icing equipment. Road crews are actively treating elevated structures and travel lanes to manage ice accumulation and restore safe surface conditions.
TxDOT records list an estimated clearance and monitoring window extending through 5:45 p.m. on April 22, 2027, though conditions remain subject to rapid change based on weather progression and treatment effectiveness.
Motorists and commercial drivers are urged to avoid this corridor, utilize designated alternate routes, and reduce speeds significantly if travel is unavoidable. We will update this report as further information becomes available.
