FM-973, TEXAS — Both eastbound and westbound lanes of FM-973 are heavily impacted between 2.332 miles south of FM-812 and 0.88 miles south of FM-812, near mile marker 0458, due to hazardous ice and snow accumulation across bridges and overpasses. A mandatory detour has been implemented, resulting in significant delays for through traffic.
TxDOT crews are actively patrolling the corridor and operating plows to treat and clear the icy road surface. Highway safety teams have routed traffic onto designated alternate paths to prevent commercial and passenger vehicle accidents.
TxDOT has classified the hazard at maximum severity, with safety advisories and ongoing weather management activities along this corridor scheduled through April 22, 2027.
Commercial dispatchers and regional motorists are strongly advised to bypass this stretch of FM-973, seek alternate corridors, and reduce speeds on all elevated roadway structures. We will update this report as TxDOT updates clearance operations and road status.
