RM-3238, TEXAS — Severe winter driving conditions have led to travel disruptions and active detours on both northbound and southbound RM-3238. The impacted corridor stretches between mile markers 0522 and 0514, from 0.148 miles west of SH-71 to 0.198 miles west of RM-12. TxDOT has categorized the incident as maximum severity due to pervasive black ice and low visibility caused by blowing snow, and travel along this stretch is strongly discouraged.
Texas Department of Transportation crews are actively deployed across the sector, conducting continuous patrol and plowing operations. Formal detours have been set up to route traffic around the most hazardous sections while treatment teams attempt to clear the icy roadway.
TxDOT indicates that winter operations and severe condition protocols are in effect for an extended window while maintenance teams work to restore safe travel conditions along the route.
Truck drivers and motor carriers are advised to delay transit through this corridor or utilize designated alternate routes, as freezing conditions severely compromise vehicle traction. We will update this report as TxDOT issues further operational status changes.
