FM-535, TEXAS — Hazardous winter driving conditions and heavy icing have prompted active detours across east and westbound lanes of FM-535, located approximately 5.8 miles west of SH-21 at mile marker 0546. Black ice and blowing snow have resulted in severe travel risks and critically reduced visibility for all motorists.
TxDOT emergency road crews are actively patrolling the corridor and deploying plows to treat the surface. Traffic detours are currently established to route vehicles around the affected section while maintenance operations continue.
The high-severity incident was initiated on November 6, 2026, at approximately 2:05 a.m., with official TxDOT clearance projections extending through July 30, 2027, at 4:45 p.m. as maintenance operations and extended closures remain active.
Freight dispatchers and drivers are urged to avoid FM-535 and delay non-essential travel through the area due to dangerous black ice conditions. We will update this report as TxDOT provides new information.
