SOUTHBOUND I-45, TEXAS — All southbound main lanes of Interstate 45 are currently shut down near Interstate 20, stretching between mile markers 275 and 276. The full closure spans from just west of SH-310 to approximately 0.22 miles north of I-20, halting all southbound traffic through the area.
Emergency response units and traffic control crews are on scene managing the closure. All southbound travel is actively being detoured onto westbound Interstate 20 to route vehicles around the incident.
TxDOT officials currently estimate the scene will be cleared and lanes reopened by approximately 4:30 PM. In the interim, severe delays are reported and congestion continues to build on approach corridors.
Motorists and freight operators are advised to avoid the area and plan alternate routes. We will update this report as additional information becomes available.
