SH-220, TEXAS — Northbound and southbound traffic on State Highway 220 is reduced to a single lane between Mile Marker 0316 and Mile Marker 0318 due to a major bridge replacement project. The closure affects the corridor from 4.82 miles south of US-67 to 3.74 miles north of FM-2481, resulting in significant congestion and travel delays.
TxDOT crews have implemented two-way traffic control across the single open lane, requiring approaching motorists to be prepared to stop. Detour routes have been established to help divert traffic around the active construction zone.
The long-term operation began on August 31, 2026, and work is projected to continue through April 30, 2027, with an estimated completion time of 6:00 p.m.
Transportation officials discourage travel through this corridor and recommend commercial drivers and commuters utilize alternate routes. We will update this report as conditions change or further details become available.
