FM 1661, TEXAS — Both northbound and southbound lanes of FM 1661 are closed from 544 feet west of SH 6 to 422 feet north of SH 283, spanning mile markers 246 through 250. The roadway is restricted to authorized traffic only following a complete shutdown of the corridor.
Traffic management crews have implemented a formal detour directing all non-restricted traffic to use State Highway 6 and State Highway 283. Roadway personnel remain deployed to enforce the restriction and manage local access points.
The long-term closure took effect on September 30, 2026. Transportation officials estimate the closure will remain in effect until approximately 8:00 p.m. on December 31, 2026.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should plan alternative routing via SH 6 and SH 283 to bypass the closure zone. We will update this report as further information becomes available.
