NORTH AND SOUTHBOUND SH-6, TEXAS — Major traffic delays are impacting both northbound and southbound lanes of State Highway 6 (Earl Rudder Freeway) between SH-21 and SH-40, spanning mile markers 586 to 596. Multiple lane closures are currently in effect across this 10-mile stretch, severely restricting traffic flow.
TxDOT crews and traffic management personnel are actively monitoring the corridor, and formal detours have been established to divert traffic around the affected lanes. Motorists and freight haulers in the area are experiencing significant travel delays approaching the closure zones.
The lane closures took effect at 11:56 a.m. on January 15, 2026. Due to the extensive scope of the operation, work and associated lane restrictions are estimated to continue through 3:30 p.m. on January 30, 2030.
Drivers and commercial dispatchers are advised to plan extra travel time or utilize designated bypass routes to avoid congestion along the corridor. We will update this report as additional lane status changes or traffic conditions develop.
