UPDATE: ROAD REOPENED - November 6, 2026 4:15 PM UTC
Both northbound and southbound I-35 from south of SH-45 to south of FM-1327 have reopened to traffic following earlier snow and ice conditions.
I-35, TEXAS — Severe winter road conditions have prompted major delays and active detours on both northbound and southbound Interstate 35 between Mile Marker 250 (south of SH-45) and Mile Marker 222 (south of FM-1327). Widespread ice and snow accumulations have been reported along the main travel lanes, bridges, and overpasses, creating hazardous driving conditions throughout the corridor.
TxDOT response crews are actively deployed, patrolling the 28-mile corridor and plowing frozen precipitation from elevated structures and roadways. Official detours have been established, and transportation officials are urging motorists to utilize alternate routes to bypass the hazardous area.
The response operations began the morning of November 6, 2026, with extended weather operations and traffic restrictions currently scheduled to remain active through April 22, 2027, at 5:45 PM.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should reroute freight around this section of I-35, reduce travel speeds significantly, and prepare for extended delays. We will update this report as road conditions improve and travel lanes reopen.
