UPDATE: ROAD REOPENED - November 6, 2026 4:15 PM UTC
US-290 has reopened in both directions between 0.352 miles west of South 1st Street and 1.092 miles west of Circle Drive.
US-290, TEXAS — Severe winter driving conditions have led to travel disruptions and active detours on both eastbound and westbound US-290 between mile marker 0564 and mile marker 0578, stretching from west of Circle Drive to west of South 1st Street. TxDOT reports hazardous ice and snow accumulation across main lanes, bridges, and elevated overpasses, resulting in high-severity delays.
TxDOT response crews are actively patrolling the corridor and operating plows to clear snow and treat iced sections of the roadway. Officials have implemented an active detour and strongly urge motorists to avoid the affected stretch by taking alternate routes.
The hazardous conditions and associated road restrictions took effect on the morning of November 6, 2026, with clearance operations and monitoring currently projected to run through April 22, 2027, at approximately 5:45 p.m.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers are advised to plan alternate freight routes to avoid corridor gridlock and exercise extreme caution on all elevated structures. We will update this report as TxDOT releases further updates on road clearance and traffic reopening.
