EAST AND WESTBOUND SH-45, TEXAS — Hazardous ice and snow on bridges, overpasses, and main lanes have forced active detours and severe delays along both eastbound and westbound State Highway 45. The disruption extends between 7.7 and 13.125 miles east of SH-130, near mile marker 580 in Travis County, significantly impeding traffic flow in both directions.
TxDOT response crews are deployed throughout the corridor, actively patrolling, plowing accumulated ice, and treating slick bridge decks. Detour routes have been established to navigate drivers away from the impassable and hazardous sections of the highway.
Winter road maintenance operations are ongoing, with traffic management personnel estimating clearance activities could extend through April 22, 2027, at 5:45 PM depending on weather progression and pavement conditions.
Commercial drivers, dispatchers, and commuters are urged to avoid this stretch of SH-45, use designated alternate routes, and exercise extreme caution on all elevated structures. We will update this report as TxDOT provides further operational updates.
