UPDATE: ROAD REOPENED - November 6, 2026 4:15 PM UTC
US-290 has reopened in both directions from 1.48 miles west of SH-95 to 2.926 miles east of US-183.
US-290, TRAVIS COUNTY, TEXAS — Hazardous winter weather conditions have prompted active detours and severe delays along both eastbound and westbound US-290 between mile markers 0588 and 0604, spanning from east of US-183 to west of SH-95. Significant ice and snow accumulations have been reported on the roadway, with elevated bridges and overpasses presenting severe travel hazards.
TxDOT emergency maintenance crews are currently deployed across the corridor, actively patrolling, plowing snow, and treating iced road surfaces. Official detour routes have been implemented to guide traffic around the impacted sections.
Due to the extensive 16-mile coverage of the icing, road management operations remain active, and TxDOT indicates that severe travel impacts will persist until conditions can be fully stabilized and surfaces cleared.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers are urged to utilize alternate regional routes and avoid this stretch of US-290 if possible. We will update this report as TxDOT releases further clearance information.
