WESTBOUND I-40, TEXAS — The right lane of westbound Interstate 40 is closed near Mile Marker 136, approximately three-quarters of a mile east of FM 291 in Gray County. The restriction began at approximately 6:18 a.m. following a high-severity traffic incident.
Emergency personnel and maintenance crews are on site working to clear the obstruction. No official detour is in place, and remaining open lanes continue to carry traffic through the area.
TxDOT officials anticipate the incident will be cleared and the right lane reopened by approximately 11:30 a.m.
Commercial drivers and westbound motorists should reduce speed, maintain extra following distance, and watch for roadside responders. We will update this report as more details become available.
