INTERSTATE 35, TEXAS — Road construction and utility operations have triggered lane closures along the Interstate 35 northbound and southbound frontage roads between Mile Marker 160 and Mile Marker 161, from the Union Pacific Railroad overpass to Salado Creek. The left lane of the frontage road is closed, while all main highway lanes remain open and unaffected.
Crews are actively conducting drill shaft construction for elevated lanes, waterline removal, and pothole exploration. The northbound frontage road inside lane is subject to a continuous closure from Exit 160 to Splashtown Drive, with traffic detoured to the outside lane. Additionally, alternating lane closures will occur nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. at Frost Bank Center Drive, where southbound traffic is shifted to the inside lane and access to local businesses is redirected.
The ongoing construction restrictions and nightly operations are scheduled to remain in place until approximately 5:00 a.m. on November 9, 2026.
Commercial truck drivers and local motorists should anticipate localized delays on frontage roads, follow posted detour signage, and exercise caution near work zones. We will update this report as TxDOT provides additional information.
