FM-816, TEXAS — Both northbound and southbound lanes of FM-816 are completely closed to traffic between mile markers 0226 and 0228, extending from 2.2 to 2.7 miles east of FM-272. The complete shutdown is resulting in ongoing traffic delays in both directions.
The roadway is impassable due to long-term construction crews executing a full bridge replacement. TxDOT and traffic control personnel have established a designated detour route around the work zone to divert commercial and local traffic.
Work began on the morning of September 22, 2026. The roadway closure is currently projected to remain in effect until approximately 4:15 p.m. on November 20, 2026, pending weather and construction progress.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers are advised to consult alternate regional corridors to avoid the construction zone and adhere strictly to all posted detour signs. We will update this report as TxDOT provides revised reopening timelines.
