EASTBOUND I-20, TEXAS — All eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 are completely closed at Mile Marker 48, approximately 1.5 miles south of FM-516, due to a commercial vehicle fire. The incident originated from a truck fire on the westbound side, forcing authorities to halt all eastbound traffic and resulting in heavy corridor delays.
Emergency responders and recovery crews are on site managing the active scene and clearing vehicle debris from the highway. TxDOT has not posted an official detour, and motorists are instructed to find alternate routes to bypass the closure.
First reported around 2:15 AM, the roadway blockage is causing major traffic disruption. Transportation officials currently estimate lanes will remain shut until approximately 3:00 PM while containment, vehicle removal, and safety assessments are completed.
Drivers and fleet dispatchers traveling through the area should expect extended travel times and adjust routes accordingly. We will update this report as soon as lanes reopen or additional details emerge.
