WESTBOUND I-20, TEXAS — All westbound main lanes of Interstate 20 are closed between Mile Marker 48 and Mile Marker 52, extending from approximately 1.3 miles south of FM-516 to east of Business I-20B near Barstow. The shutdown was initiated around 1:34 a.m. following a severe traffic incident that has halted all westbound travel.
Emergency personnel and transportation crews have established an active detour to route traffic around the closure. Westbound motorists are instructed to take Exit 52 into Barstow, proceed west toward Pecos, and take US-285 south for two miles to re-enter Interstate 20.
Clearance crews and emergency responders remain on scene working to resolve the incident and reopen the corridor. TxDOT currently estimates that the roadway will remain closed until approximately 12:00 p.m.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers navigating this freight corridor should anticipate delays and utilize the designated detour or seek alternate regional routes. We will update this report as soon as lanes reopen or official updates are released.
