UPDATE: ROAD REOPENED - October 26, 2026 11:25 AM UTC Northbound and southbound US-87 has reopened to traffic from south of US-54 to west of US-385. The previous detour is no longer in place.
US-87, TEXAS — Both northbound and southbound lanes of US-87 are closed from 612 feet south of US-54 to 961 feet west of US-385 (Mile Markers 56 to 54) due to hazardous flooding over low water crossings.
TxDOT crews have shut down the roadway and established an active detour. All traffic is being routed onto Spur 24 to reconnect with US-385 until water recedes and the highway is safe for travel.
The roadway closure took effect at 3:40 AM and is currently estimated to remain in place until approximately 4:00 PM on October 26, 2026, subject to weather conditions and pavement safety assessments.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers traveling through the area should adjust transit schedules and avoid attempting to navigate standing water. We will update this report as TxDOT provides new developments or clearance notices.
