UPDATE: ROAD REOPENED - October 26, 2026 9:05 PM UTC Spur 17 has reopened in both directions between US-385 and US-87 following an earlier closure due to flooding.
SPUR 17, TEXAS — Spur 17 is completely shut down to traffic in both north and southbound directions between US-385 and US-87 due to severe roadway flooding. High water covering the highway between mile markers 260 and 258 has forced a total closure of all travel lanes.
Texas Department of Transportation crews have implemented an active detour around the flooded section. Field personnel are on scene monitoring water levels and managing local traffic diversions.
Crews currently estimate the roadway will reopen by 4:00 PM today, October 26, 2026, pending water recession and necessary safety inspections.
Commercial truck drivers and motorists should plan alternate routes and never attempt to drive across water-covered pavement. We will update this report as TxDOT provides additional details.
