UPDATE: ROAD REOPENED - October 26, 2026 9:05 PM UTC Eastbound Interstate 40 near FM-1912 has reopened to traffic following an earlier closure.
EASTBOUND I-40, TEXAS — All eastbound main lanes of Interstate 40 are closed near FM-1912 at Mile Marker 81 following an incident reported at approximately 11:37 AM.
Emergency response units and TxDOT crews are on site managing the closure. Traffic is being routed off the main freeway lanes and detoured onto the adjacent frontage road to bypass the blocked section.
Officials currently estimate that clearance and cleanup operations will continue through approximately 4:30 PM.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should anticipate slower speeds along the frontage road and plan for alternate routing if possible. We will update this report as new information becomes available.
