SOUTHBOUND US-87, TEXAS — All southbound main lanes of US-87 are closed north of FM-1719 between mile markers 132 and 130 following a major incident reported early Tuesday morning. The blockage affects a one-mile stretch of the highway, bringing southbound traffic to an immediate standstill.
Emergency response personnel and clearance teams are actively working at the scene to manage traffic impacts and clear the travel lanes. Due to the complete obstruction of the main lanes, transportation officials have strongly discouraged travel through this segment.
TxDOT projects that the roadway will remain blocked until approximately 5:00 p.m. while crews complete recovery and clearance operations.
Commercial drivers and regional motorists are urged to adjust route planning and seek alternate routes around the closure to avoid heavy congestion. We will update this report as soon as lanes reopen or additional traffic management details are released.
