SOUTHBOUND US-281, TEXAS — All southbound main lanes of US-281 are closed to traffic near FM-1863, between mile markers 512 and 514, due to overnight construction operations. The complete highway closure spans from approximately 0.32 miles north of FM-1863 to 0.39 miles south of the intersection.
Work crews are performing base repairs at bridge approaches along the corridor. A mandatory detour is in place, directing all southbound highway traffic off the main lanes and onto adjacent entrance and exit ramps to bypass the work zone.
The overnight closure is scheduled to remain active until approximately 6:00 AM on October 29. Motorists in the area are experiencing notable traffic delays along the detour route.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should account for congestion around the ramps and consider alternate regional routes to avoid delays. We will update this report as TxDOT updates lane reopening times or road conditions change.
