UPDATE: ROAD REOPENED - October 29, 2026 3:35 AM UTC Westbound I-10 has reopened between US-67 and US-385 following an earlier lane closure and detour at RM 2886.
WESTBOUND I-10, TEXAS — A major traffic incident has forced a single-lane closure on westbound Interstate 10 between Mile Marker 268 and Mile Marker 264, situated between US-67 and US-385. All westbound traffic is restricted to one travel lane with active two-way traffic control in place, creating heavy congestion and requiring motorists to prepare for sudden stops.
TxDOT and emergency response personnel are actively managing the scene. Westbound motorists are being detoured off the interstate at the RM 2886 off-ramp and directed back onto I-10 via the immediate on-ramp to bypass the primary obstruction.
TxDOT officials reported the disruption starting at 7:06 p.m., with clearance and recovery operations currently estimated to conclude around 10:30 p.m.
Motorists and freight dispatchers should anticipate travel delays through Pecos County, reduce speeds, and exercise extreme caution around active road crews. We will update this report as TxDOT provides additional information.
