SOUTHBOUND I-35, TEXAS — A building fire investigation has prompted the full closure of the southbound Interstate 35 frontage road (Santa Ursula Avenue) in Laredo. The shutdown affects the corridor between Mile Marker 1 and Mile Marker 2, just south of US-59 in Webb County. The I-35 main lanes remain open and are not impacted by the incident.
City of Laredo emergency crews and investigative units are actively managing the scene. Official detours have been established to direct local and commercial traffic around the blocked frontage road section.
According to TxDOT, the extended closure began on October 29 and is currently estimated to remain active through November 2, 2026, at approximately 11:45 PM.
Motorists and freight dispatchers navigating the Laredo area should anticipate surface street detours and plan alternate local routes accordingly. We will update this report as new information becomes available.
