SH-70, TEXAS — State Highway 70 is completely closed to north and southbound traffic between FM-97 and SH-86 (mile markers 182 to 170) due to roadway and bridge damage. All travel lanes are blocked across the 12-mile stretch.
TxDOT crews have shut down the damaged bridge and deployed designated detour routes. Northbound traffic is detoured west on FM 97 to FM 599, continuing to FM 2733, then east on SH 86 back to SH 70. Southbound motorists are directed west on SH 86 to FM 2733, south on FM 599, and east on FM 97 before rejoining SH 70.
Repair operations are underway, and the closure is currently estimated to remain in place until approximately 8:00 PM on October 29, 2026.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should route around the area using the posted detour or seek alternative regional highways to avoid delays. We will update this report as TxDOT provides new information.
