SH-70, TEXAS — State Highway 70 is closed to all traffic in both directions between Mile Marker 170 and Mile Marker 182, extending from 26 feet south of FM-97 to 111 feet south of SH-86. The complete closure is required due to structural bridge damage along the corridor.
TxDOT crews have established marked detours to route traffic around the damaged bridge. Northbound motorists are directed west on FM 97 to FM 599, north to FM 2733, east on SH 86, and back to SH 70. Southbound traffic must detour west on SH 86 to FM 2733, south on FM 599 to FM 97, and return to SH 70.
Crews are actively working on infrastructure repairs. The extended closure began on October 23, 2026, and is projected to remain in effect until November 4, 2026, at approximately 5:00 PM.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should reroute regional freight to avoid significant detour delays. We will update this report as new information becomes available.
