EASTBOUND LOOP 8, TEXAS — Multiple left lanes are blocked on eastbound Loop 8 following a traffic accident and an active diesel spill east of Interstate 45. The incident occurred at approximately 6:48 a.m. between 0.4 miles and 1.027 miles east of I-45, around mile marker 712, creating heavy backups along the corridor.
Emergency personnel and environmental cleanup crews are on site managing the fuel spill and working to clear the wreckage. No detour route has been designated, and traffic is being channeled through the remaining open lanes, causing severe congestion.
According to TxDOT, remediation and vehicle recovery efforts are projected to conclude by approximately 10:00 a.m. However, reopening times remain subject to change depending on the progress of hazardous materials mitigation and pavement safety checks.
