EAST AND WESTBOUND FM-597, TEXAS — Hazardous conditions have developed along east and westbound FM-597 due to water over the roadway between 0.97 miles and 1.75 miles east of US-385. The high-water incident is centered near mile marker 272 and poses a high-severity threat to both commercial and passenger traffic traversing the corridor.
Transportation crews are actively monitoring the affected stretch to assess roadway integrity and water depth. Although no formal detours have been posted and significant delays have not yet developed, the standing water creates an elevated risk for hydroplaning and sudden stops.
TxDOT estimates the hazard will persist until approximately 12:00 PM on October 31, 2026, though the timeline remains subject to local drainage rates and weather changes.
Drivers and freight dispatchers operating in the area are urged to exercise extreme caution, reduce speed, and avoid attempting to cross water-covered lanes. We will update this report as soon as more information becomes available.
