FM-973, TEXAS — Severe icy conditions have led officials to discourage travel along east- and westbound FM-973 in Travis County. The impacted corridor spans between 2.332 miles south of FM-812 and 0.88 miles south of FM-812, near mile marker 0458, creating major delays for all passing motorists.
TxDOT crews have established an active detour to route commercial and passenger traffic around the affected roadway. Traffic management personnel are monitoring the corridor and strongly advise against traveling through the area until conditions improve.
The high-severity advisory took effect at 11:13 AM on November 6, 2026, and current transportation agency projections indicate active conditions and traffic management operations could extend through August 25, 2027, at 4:30 PM.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should plan alternate routes immediately to avoid severe bottlenecks and hazardous pavement. We will update this report as more details become available.
