EAST AND WESTBOUND FM-973, TEXAS — Severe icy conditions have triggered a high-severity roadway closure along both Eastbound and Westbound FM-973. The impacted corridor stretches between mile markers 0438 and 0430, extending from approximately 3 miles north of Loop 212 to 1.3 miles south of FM-1660.
Transportation crews have deployed an active detour to route traffic around the hazard zone. Officials strongly discourage all non-essential travel through the area as road crews work to manage dangerous surface conditions and address resulting traffic backups.
TxDOT records indicate the ongoing traffic restriction has an estimated clearance window extending through August 25, 2027, at 4:30 PM.
