SOUTHBOUND US 281, TEXAS — A major traffic accident has forced the complete closure of all southbound main lanes on US 281. The impacted stretch extends from 132 feet south of SH 141 to 0.92 miles north of Business US 281, covering mile markers 686 through 698.
Emergency responders and road clearance crews are actively on the scene managing the incident. Heavy delays have developed throughout the corridor, and no official detour has been established at this time.
According to transportation officials, the roadway closure is estimated to remain in place until approximately 11:45 PM on October 23, 2026, as crews continue scene clearance operations.
