SH-70, TEXAS — State Highway 70 is closed to all traffic in both northbound and southbound directions from south of FM-97 (Mile Marker 182) to south of SH-86 (Mile Marker 170). The full corridor closure is in effect due to structural damage to a bridge along the route.
TxDOT has implemented designated detours around the affected structure. Northbound traffic is detoured west on FM-97 to FM-599, continuing to FM-2733 to SH-86 before reconnecting with SH-70. Southbound traffic must detour west on SH-86 to FM-2733, south to FM-599, and east on FM-97 to return to SH-70.
Crews are assessing and repairing the damaged infrastructure. The closure began on the afternoon of October 23, 2026, and is currently estimated to remain in place until approximately 5:00 PM on October 28, 2026.
Motorists and commercial carriers should bypass the area using alternate regional routes to avoid detour delays. We will update this report as new information becomes available.
