LOOP 1, TEXAS — Hazardous icy conditions have triggered severe roadway impacts and active detours on Loop 1 (SL0001) in Travis County. The disruption spans from 2.378 miles south of Slaughter Lane to 2.512 miles south of SH-45, between mile markers 0448 and 0424. Officials report maximum-severity disruptions affecting travel in both directions, and non-essential travel is currently discouraged.
Traffic management personnel and TxDOT maintenance crews have implemented detour routes to route motorists away from the most heavily impacted segments. Crews are actively monitoring road conditions and managing traffic diversion points to prevent gridlock.
TxDOT officials have placed an extended alert window on the corridor, with the incident status currently scheduled through August 25, 2027, at approximately 4:30 PM. Roadway clearance and reopening timelines remain subject to weather conditions and ongoing mitigation operations.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should seek alternate routes immediately to avoid heavy congestion and prolonged delays across South Austin. We will update this report as TxDOT releases new developments.
