LOOP 343, TEXAS — Severe weather and hazardous icy conditions have impacted Loop 343 (SL0343) in both the northbound and southbound directions. The disruption extends between mile markers 564 and 568, stretching from directly north of US-290 to east of I-35, prompting transportation officials to strongly discourage travel along the route.
Active detours have been put in place to redirect traffic away from the hazardous stretch, and maintenance crews are monitoring the roadway. Major travel delays are actively being reported across the affected corridor as vehicles navigate the adverse conditions.
TxDOT reports an active severity level of 5/5 for the incident, with the current alert window listed through August 25, 2027, at 4:30 PM, subject to ongoing condition assessments and maintenance operations.
Commercial drivers and dispatchers should plan alternative freight routes around the Austin-area Loop 343 corridor and avoid the area between US-290 and I-35. We will update this report as new information becomes available.
