EAST AND WESTBOUND FM-535, TEXAS — Hazardous winter driving conditions have triggered major travel disruptions along east and westbound FM-535, roughly 5.8 miles west of SH-21 near Mile Marker 0546. Ice and snow accumulation on bridges, overpasses, and main travel lanes has resulted in high-severity delays and lane restrictions in both directions.
TxDOT response crews are actively patrolling the corridor and operating plowing equipment to treat and clear the roadway. An official detour has been established, and authorities are directing all traffic to seek alternate routes to bypass the affected stretch.
Initial response operations began the morning of November 6, 2026, and TxDOT currently estimates the condition window and related travel impacts will continue through 5:45 p.m. on April 22, 2027.
Commercial truck drivers and local motorists should adjust route plans, reduce speeds on elevated structures, and maintain safe following distances. We will update this report as TxDOT provides new developments or clearance confirmations.
