RM-1826, TEXAS — Severe winter driving conditions have resulted in major traffic delays and detour implementations on both northbound and southbound RM-1826. The alert spans from 0.832 miles south of SH-45 to 0.13 miles south of US-290, covering mile markers 0450 through 0444, due to dangerous ice and snow buildup on the main roadway, overpasses, and bridges.
TxDOT crews are actively on-site patrolling the corridor and operating plows to treat icy surfaces. Traffic management operations are directing motorists toward alternate routes while clearance and de-icing measures continue.
Given the severity level of the conditions, hazardous travel and traffic disruptions along this corridor are projected to persist, with TxDOT estimating clearance operations through April 22, 2027, at 5:45 PM.
Motorists and commercial freight operators are strongly advised to bypass the area and use designated detour routes to prevent bridge-related slide-offs. We will update this report as roadway conditions improve and closures are lifted.
