RM 2222, TEXAS — Severe winter road conditions have impacted northbound and southbound travel along RM 2222 and Spur 69 near US-290. Accumulated snow and ice on elevated structures, bridges, and main travel lanes have prompted TxDOT to issue a maximum-severity alert, resulting in active detours and heavy travel delays near mile marker 0538.
TxDOT maintenance teams are actively patrolling the affected corridor and plowing frozen precipitation from the roadway. Highway officials strongly recommend that drivers take alternate routes to avoid navigating the icy bridges and overpasses.
Crews are maintaining ongoing monitoring and clearance operations for the area, with safety and traffic management protocols projected to remain active through April 22, 2027, at 5:45 p.m., or until conditions completely normalize.
Commercial vehicle operators and regional commuters should avoid the interchange, plan detour routes in advance, and reduce speeds across all elevated roadways. We will update this report as new information becomes available.
