UPDATE: ROAD REOPENED - November 6, 2026 5:25 PM UTC
Both northbound and southbound I-35 have reopened between SH-45 and FM-1327.
TRAVIS COUNTY, TEXAS — Both northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 35 are experiencing severe travel disruptions from mile marker 250 (south of SH-45) to mile marker 222 (south of FM-1327) due to dangerous icy road conditions. The Texas Department of Transportation has assigned the incident a maximum severity rating of 5, and travel along this stretch is strongly discouraged.
Traffic management personnel have established detours around the affected 28-mile corridor to reroute traffic safely away from hazardous road segments. Emergency response and road maintenance crews are deployed to monitor conditions and manage traffic flow at key diversion points.
Delays are significant and ongoing. TxDOT reports that detour operations and travel advisories for this section of I-35 are currently estimated to remain in place through August 25, 2027, subject to weather conditions and roadway safety assessments.
Motorists and commercial freight dispatchers are advised to plan extra travel time, reduce speeds, or select alternative regional corridors to avoid the area entirely. We will update this report as TxDOT issues further advisories.
