FM-973, TEXAS — Severe winter weather has caused hazardous travel conditions and triggered active detours along both eastbound and westbound FM-973 between 1.089 miles west of Burleson Road and 1.805 miles north of SH-71 (mile markers 0456 to 0452). Significant ice and snow accumulation on bridges, overpasses, and main travel lanes has prompted a maximum-severity alert for the corridor.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is actively patrolling and plowing the affected stretches to clear icy road surfaces. Formal detours have been established, and officials urge drivers to avoid the area and use designated alternate routes.
TxDOT operations and weather-monitoring activities are slated to remain active through April 22, 2027, at approximately 5:45 PM, subject to ongoing road clearing and environmental conditions.
Commercial truck drivers and dispatchers should reroute freight around this corridor, exercise extreme caution on elevated structures, and maintain extended following distances. We will update this report as conditions change or if closures are modified.
