EAST AND WESTBOUND FM-973, TEXAS — East and westbound travel along FM-973 is heavily restricted due to severe ice and snow accumulation across roadways, bridges, and overpasses. The affected segment spans from 3.016 miles north of Loop 212 to 1.314 miles south of FM-1660 (mile markers 0438 to 0430) in Travis County, resulting in significant delays and active detours.
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) winter maintenance teams are actively patrolling the area and deploying plows to treat icy surfaces. Traffic management operations are underway to redirect approaching vehicles away from the slick corridor.
TxDOT operations and long-term surface monitoring are scheduled to remain active in this zone through an estimated end time of 5:45 p.m. on April 22, 2027.
Motorists and commercial fleet dispatchers should bypass this stretch entirely, utilize alternate routes, and reduce speeds near elevated structures. We will update this report as conditions change and lanes reopen.
