LOOP 212, TEXAS — Severe winter weather has triggered active detours and major delays along both northbound and southbound Loop 212 between FM 973 and US 290 (mile markers 0548 to 0546). TxDOT reports dangerous ice and snow buildup across the roadway, bridges, and overpasses, creating high-risk travel conditions along the entire stretch.
TxDOT response units are actively patrolling the corridor and operating snow plows to clear the frozen precipitation. Traffic management personnel have established active detours and are directing all through traffic away from the hazardous roadway.
Clearance operations began on the morning of November 6, 2026. TxDOT maintenance and monitoring operations for this corridor are officially scheduled to remain active until April 22, 2027, or until weather hazards fully subside.
Drivers and freight dispatchers are advised to avoid Loop 212 entirely and utilize alternate regional routes until travel lanes are de-iced. We will update this report as road conditions improve and normal traffic flow is restored.
