FM 1697, TEXAS — All northbound and southbound main lanes of FM 1697 are completely closed following a severe traffic accident near mile marker 0596. The closure spans from approximately 1.4 miles to 2.7 miles east of FM 141, cutting off through traffic along the corridor since roughly 3:18 PM.
Emergency responders and roadway clearance personnel are on scene managing the incident. Because no formal detour has been designated by transportation officials, drivers are instructed to bypass the area entirely and utilize alternate regional routes.
Texas Department of Transportation officials have rated the incident at maximum severity due to the full roadway blockage. Clearance teams currently estimate that the road will remain closed through 8:00 PM while recovery and clean-up efforts are completed.
